History

2016 – 2017

Completed the gymnasium
Started the Elderly Project with the aim to reproduce the historical “grandfather / grandson” relationship to transfer experience and knowledge to the grandchild.
Started the Food Processing Project: A small food processing plant for fruit, vegetables and legumes in collaboration with small local farmers.
Assigned the school management to the Franciscan Sisters of Sao Paulo which improves the school level.
Finished the opening Works and consecration of the New Church.
Subsequently the supplied spaces increase with the addition of a gym, a second school building, a teenage home, and an area for professional courses.

2014 – 2015

Beginning of musical education with violin and singing (choir).

2012 – 2013

Beginning the construction of the Church following the project of the Medieval Church of Fontanella, a village not far from Sotto il Monte (BG – Italy). Maintenance and repair of existing structures. Buffalo breeding replaces cows breeding as it produces a higher quality and more marketable milk.

2010 – 2011

Launched the “Healthy Like a Fish” campaign to introduce the Tilapia fish farm to the lake located in the agricultural area of ​​the mission.
This project, once completed, will offer to the community, in addition to greater food autonomy, the possibility of opening a vocational school on the aquaculture industry and thus offer a future to the youngsters who, once teenagers over 18, leave the mission.

2008 – 2009

It’s the beginning of the fundraising “campaigns” for the expansion of the activities of the San Michele Arcangelo Opera
– Campaign for the welcoming of kindergarten children, for which a specific school building has been designed
– Campaign “Feed to reborn” for the purchase of cattle.

2003 – 2007

On September 29 of 2003, togheter with the Brazilian authorities the construction of the new San Michele Arcangelo Opera is inaugurated. It initially welcomes a hundred children.
The buildings, well-structured and organized, consist of a refectory, a school and four lodges for the residence of the live-in children.

2000 – 2002

A growing number of children and teenagers, that make the former prison’s premises inadequate and uncertain over the renewal of the contract with the local Government, induce Roberto to look for a newer and more functional place. In 2000 was acquired an agricultural property of 320 hectares on the outskirts of the town of Barbacena where, the year after, the work for the buildings for the activities of St. Michael the Archangel begin.

1998 – 2000

Marco Roberto Bertoli, in Brazil since 1995 for social activities, experiences the discomfort of the street children who are victims of abandonment and violence and plans to create a center where to take care of them. In March 1998 the Government of the Minas Gerais region offered the use of ancient building in the town hall of Antonio Carlos. It was used as a dairy factory at the end of the 19th century, then transformed into an agronomic school and finally in a jail for minors. Meanwhile, in Italy, was founded the Association “Il Padre Pellegrino” with the purpose of gathering the necessary aid for organizing and managing the mission.
